Sajan Ghar Jana Hai" is a bold effort by STAR TV to fight the ill effects of caste system in our society.
The protagonist of the story is a simple girl Dhaani who lost her father at an early age and has been brought up by her mother. Her mother dreams to see Dhaani married in a reputed family and her prayers are answered when one day an affluent high class Brahman asks for the hand of her daughter for his son Amber!
Festivities ring in the life of Dhaani and she is married to Amber with a lot of pomp. However, not all beginnings are smooth and Dhaani's destiny takes a cruel turn and she is rejected by her in laws for the simple reason that she belongs to a lower cast! Amber initially refuses to accept his parents decision but eventually bows down to them.
Dhanni's dreams are shattered but she is determined to fulfill her duties as a wife. Thus, she enters her husband household as a maid only to find out that he is already married to another girl Sarla. The two develop a deep bond amongst themselves and devote their lives to Amber. However, the story takes another twist when Amber discovers that Dhanni is the girl whom he married and thus begin an interesting chain of events!
"Sajan Ghar Jana Hai" juxtaposes the deep rooted beliefs of caste system and the determination of a woman to serve her duties as an ideal wife. The show gives a taste of the rich Indian culture and the strong mettle of the Indian woman for whom her husband is supreme! It glorifies the indomitable spirit of the Indian woman.
